NEED FOR INNOVATION

Thermal comfort and it’s cost on the nation

Ceiling fans are still the primary choice of appliance to cool people in India due to their low cost, familiarity, simplicity, and accessibility. Ceiling fans will remain the primary choice for decades to come due to demographic shifts, climate change, and widespread electrification. Regular ceiling fans place a significant load on our electricity grid and, as a result, contribute significantly to environmental pollution.

List of Innovations (Detailed)

It is the invention of a high-speed BLDC ceiling fan compatible with the existing systems and the market. This patent represents the fundamental innovation that led to the First super energy-efficient ceiling fan in India.

Typically, BLDC motors have hall effect sensors to detect the position of the rotor and enable smooth control of the motor. Superfan devised a unique algorithm that enabled position detection solely through firmware. This innovation was critical for the industry in improving reliability and lowering the cost of a BLDC ceiling fan.

Superfan developed a firmware that compensated for the variation in the back emf, thereby eliminating the need to precisely magnetize the permanent magnets. This innovation reduced the manufacturing time by more than 100%.

BLDC ceiling fans by design are more suited to be controlled by a remote. Consumers prefer capacitive type wall regulators in some scenarios. Superfan is creating the first regulator-controlled BLDC ceiling fan.

The feature enables the speed of the fan to be controlled by toggling the ON/OFF switch.

Aesthetics is one aspect of the ceiling fan; typical ceiling fans with decorative additions on the blades affect performance and productivity. Superfan utilized cross-functional technology in ceiling fans to enhance aesthetics without affecting performance and productivity.

Superfan consistently demonstrates its position as a technology leader by exceeding the standards set by others and its own.

Typically, the BLDC motor requires adhesives to keep the magnet assembly in its place, which has a 24-hour curing time. The new method to fix the magnets without adhesive can eliminate the curing process and the manufacturing process of gluing.

In BLDC motors, the magnets are in the internal rotor. The rotor is outside of the motor in ceiling fans. Superfan constructed an outer rotor BLDC motor that is compatible with the existing fan design.
